Weekly Space-Holding

Each week you will have the space to drop in, reflect and connect. A gift of a weekly morning to take a break from your day-to-day and be reminded of what really matters for you through the sharing of space with other women who truly get it.

Exploratory Journal

Nicole has collaborated with author and artist Nell Harris to create and publish “Neurodivergence & Matrescence: An Exploratory Journal”. This resource is jam-packed with useful information about neurodivergent parenting with prompts for personal reflections throughout.

Continual connection between sessions

The opportunity to connect between weekly sessions in an online forum with optional accountability buddy pairing. This group can continue to connect long after completion of the 6 week program.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF...

  • You or a member of your family are neurodivergent or suspected neurodivergent or self identified neurodivergent.
  • ND life feels a little (or a lot) hectic and dealing with big feelings on the daily is exhausting.
  • You would like the opportunity to connect with other mothers who are experiencing a similar life path / journey and spend time with people who ‘get you’.
  • You are interested in expanding your awareness about neurodiversity in order to bring more acceptance and love to your family.
  • You want support to parent your child in a neuroaffirming way - that is, embracing them for who they are.
  • You want to discuss practical tools and strategies for parenting and adulting.
  • You don’t have NDIS funding and thus your supports are limited.
  • You have self- or plan-managed NDIS funding (invoices can be provided for both).

FAQs

  • Can I use my child’s NDIS plan to fund the program?

Yes. It is claimable using NDIS funding for self-managed and plan-managed families. Under the NDIS, parents and carers of a child with a disability can receive funding to improve your ability to support them to achieve their goals.

There is flexibility with where families can allocate their NDIS Capacity Building funds. I.e. It’s typically thought that Capacity Building funds must be used for 1:1 therapy for the child with a clinician, however, the funds can be used flexibly to claim for parents and caregivers to upskill in order to support their child to meet their goals.

The program is billed under CB Daily Activity, Improved Daily Living Skills, Training for Carers/Parents, Item # 15_038_0117_1_3. See the NDIS price arrangements and price limits document (pages 98 & 99 - Other Services) for further details.

  • I am a mother with my own NDIS plan. Can I use my funding to pay for the program?

Absolutely. If you have goals around expanding social networks, understanding your neurodivergent identity, parenting or improving day-to-day organisation and functioning, you’ll be in the right place. Speak with your support coordinator or plan manager about which NDIS line number would be best suited, but typically you can use 15_617_0128_1_3 Assessment Recommendation Therapy or Training - Occupational Therapist but there are other options.

  • I would love to take part but money is tight and I just can’t afford to pay the full fee.

Please reach out via email. Equity is important to us and if money is the only thing holding you back from joining I’m more than happy to discuss a reduced rate. No proof needed. Just a brief phone call so we can understand your circumstances and agree upon a workable rate for you. Instalments are also available. (Two places are allocated each round for reduced fees.)

  • I’m often anxious in new social environments. Will this be accommodated?

You are not alone. I’m happy to arrange a phone call to talk through any reservations you have and accommodations you may find useful. You’ll never be made to feel like you have to contribute; sitting and listening is ok.

  • What happens once I register?

Once you send an email to request registration, we will respond answering any questions you may have and asking you for the details we need to get you enrolled for the group. An invoice for a $200 instalment will be emailed to you or your Plan Manager for immediate payment to secure a place, followed by an invoice for $475 midway through the program. You will receive an email with the finer details and online link for the sessions 1-2 weeks prior to commencement.

  • But why should I prioritise my time and money on support for myself, when my child is the one who needs support?

In many cases, 1 hour of parent support/education equates to MANY hours of 1:1 therapy for a child. A regulated parent who has the tools and ability to support your child will feel confident to meet their needs most of the time, meaning a more regulated child and family life that feels so much easier.
